Ford Ice Center

Description: New ice rink facility consisting of two NHL-size ice rinks, interior mezzanine level, concessions, pro shop, and other support spaces. The facility will be home to the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy, the Nashville Jr. Predators, the Vanderbilt club team, and the MTSU club team.

Structural System: The rink structure is a pre-engineered metal building system with a second level mezzanine separating the rinks. The mezzanine structure is concrete masonry unit (CMU) bearing walls with hollowcore plank floors. The structure for the ancillary spaces is steel framing with steel bar joists roof structure. Lateral load resistance is provided by ordinary reinforced masonry shear walls and ordinary steel moment frames at the pre-engineered metal building.
